Who we are
AI Cooker is made by Alexandru Bratu, Romania (“we”), the controller of the data described here. For any question about your data, write to alexandrubratu3@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your saved recipes, the changes you make to them, and your cooking progress and timers.
- Your settings: whether you allowed the AI, how many smart conversions you used this month (or in a free week, with that subscription’s transaction number from Apple), and notices you have seen.
We cannot see any of this. It stays on your iPhone and in your iPhone’s own backups. Account → Delete my data removes your recipes, progress and AI choice; the usage counts stay, so the free allowance stays fair. Deleting the app removes everything.
Converting a recipe
To read a recipe, your iPhone downloads the page, and later its photo, directly from the recipe’s website (or the image address the page names), as Safari would. That site sees your request, as it would for any visit. When you share a page from Safari, the page you already opened is used.
Smarter steps with AI
Only if you choose Allow (you are asked before the first time, and can change it anytime in Account), AI Cooker sends:
- the recipe’s text (title, ingredients and method) and
- the link of the recipe page
to our server, which passes them to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI) to rewrite the method as short steps. We send no name, account, photo, contact or location. Every amount, time and temperature is then checked against the page on your iPhone.
Our server runs on Cloudflare and does not store recipes. Its request logs (time, IP address, approximate location, device type and whether the request worked, but not the recipe) are kept for up to 7 days to run and protect the service. Anthropic processes the recipe for us as a service provider; under its commercial terms it does not use it to train its models and keeps it only for a limited time, mainly for safety and abuse monitoring.
If you choose Use basic steps only, steps are made on your iPhone and no recipe is sent to us or to Anthropic.
Who processes data, where, and for how long
- Processors: Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting our server) and Anthropic PBC (the AI). Apple handles purchases as an independent controller.
- Where: Cloudflare and Anthropic process data in the United States and elsewhere, under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable).
- How long: recipes are not stored by us; the installation key while it is in use, monthly counts for about 40 days; server logs up to 7 days; Anthropic for a limited period under its terms.
Purchases
AI Cooker Pro is sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never receive your name, Apple Account or card details. The app only learns from Apple whether Pro is active on this device, whether it is in its free week, and that subscription’s transaction number, which stays on your iPhone.
Alarms and notifications
Timers, alarms, reminders and the Live Activity are set up on your iPhone only. Nothing about them is sent to us.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling or sharing of data with data brokers.
- No profiles. To limit how much one installation can use the AI, each request is signed with a random key made on your iPhone (Apple’s App Attest) and we count requests per key each month. That key is not linked to your name, Apple Account or anything else about you, and a new one is made if you reinstall the app.
Children
AI Cooker is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU) and does not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Wherever you live (including under the GDPR and US state laws), you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, or complain to your data protection authority. Since we keep no recipes and no accounts, most requests are answered by Delete my data in the app; for anything else, write to alexandrubratu3@gmail.com.
Legal bases: sending a recipe to the AI is based on your consent, which you can withdraw anytime in Account (this does not affect conversions already made); server logs are based on our legitimate interest in running and securing the service.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and its date.
